Projects
My two most formative projects to date are Waterbody™ and The Fear of Falling. Waterbody™ is a unique approach to being in water that I have developed over the last decade. Focusing on the expansiveness of our consciousness, it primarily teaches us how to connect with water more deeply and use our experiences in a meditative way. As a extension of my learning within my teaching, The Fear of Falling is a series of underwater portraits that explores a concept I call ‘Water Consciousness’. Presenting a more grounded and weighted sense of being than is usually associated with underwater imagery, the portraits, made in collaboration with fellow artist Emma Critchley, seek to unearth our greater access to the immediate moment whilst submerged.
Included too on this site is some early photographic and textile based work, exploring our relationship to childhood, sleep and dreams. With inspiration from early photographers such a Julia Margaret Cameron and writers such a Lewis Carroll and Angela Carter, the project was significant learning ground for my future endeavours. It’s working title was ‘somewhere in between’.
Also, there are a handful of my writings and contemplations….
